Everyone experiences seasons of uncertainty, and everyone deserves the opportunity to build a better future. For Kevin, that journey began in 2022 when circumstances led him to homelessness. After struggling with substance use that affected his employment and living situation, Kevin found himself facing an uncertain future.
Before coming to Bethel Shelters, Kevin attempted a transition program and later entered a long-term rehabilitation program to focus on his recovery. Through commitment, perseverance, and hard work, he achieved a significant milestone: two and a half years sober.
With a renewed sense of purpose, Kevin began taking steps toward rebuilding his life. He enrolled in the Bethel Shelters Workforce Development Program, where he received support in working toward self-sufficiency. Kevin worked with case management to address personal goals, gained part-time employment through our Back to Work Program, and applied for Social Security benefits to help establish greater financial stability.
Each step brought Kevin closer to the future he was working to build. With determination and access to supportive services, he moved out of the shelter and into stable housing.
Kevin’s story is a reminder that homelessness does not define a person’s future. Recovery, stability, and independence are possible when individuals have the opportunity, resources, and support to move forward.
At Bethel Shelters, we believe every person deserves a safe place to begin again and the chance to build a brighter tomorrow. Kevin’s journey reflects what can happen when perseverance meets opportunity.
Every step forward matters. Every fresh start brings hope. And every person deserves the chance to succeed.
