Volunteer Your Time

Bethel Shelters has some part-time staff but we are greatly supported by our volunteer base, who help us prepare and serve meals, launder clothes and linens, and organize events. If you would like to volunteer with us, take a look at our current opportunities below. If you have any questions about how to get involved at the shelters, reach out to us and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

  • Prepare & Serve Meals

One of the most essential ways volunteers can assist Bethel Men's Night Shelter is by preparing and serving meals to guests entering the shelter each night. Meal preparation and serving at the overnight shelter is entirely volunteer-driven and would be impossible without those willing to step up and give back. Over the years, hundreds of groups, families, churches, businesses, and civic organizations have signed up to carry out this essential task. Follow the link below to sign up.

  • Provide Sunday Breakfast

We serve Sunday morning breakfast at the Bethel Men's Night Shelter every week at 7:30 to accompany the weekly Sunday School class we hold for our interested guests. If you would like to sign up to provide breakfast during this time, click the link below to learn more. This opportunity does not require that you serve a meal, simply provide one.

  • Donations

    Donations

Night Shelter volunteers will take donation requests from guests, run requests upstairs to the donation room, or sort donations upstairs. Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up. Thank you!

  • Day Shelter

Day Shelter volunteers assist guests with access to showers, laundry and computer services at the Day Shelter and other responsibilities as assigned by intake specialists, case managers, or Bethel Shelters Directors. Volunteer orientation is required by all volunteers before serving at Bethel Day Shelter. Please click on the button to email us to set up a time for volunteer orientation. Thank you!

  • Launder Bath Towels and Bedding

    Launder Bath Towels and Bedding

Just like at home, our bath towels and bedsheets must be laundered on a regular basis to ensure that they stay clean and fresh. Bethel Shelters partners with a local laundromat to complete this large task, but is still in need of volunteers to take laundry from the shelter to the laundromat, wash and dry all laundry, and bring it back to the shelter. If you’re interested in helping out, reach out to us to learn more.

  • Day Shelter Prayer Service

We have recently begun offering daily prayer services at the Day Shelter from 9:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Monday-Saturday. Your congregation can commit to a week once a year, a specific day once a month, or whatever works best for your church's schedule. We invite you to lead the service in your tradition, but we ask that churches would refrain from proselytizing. Please contact us using the link below to sign up.
