Finding Stability

About this time last year, William came to us facing overwhelming challenges. As a retired US veteran, he often struggled to put meals on the table. He was living with someone, and they stopped paying their portion of the rent, causing him to lose the place he called home.

William was an active participant in case management, and he was connected to the Alston Wilkes Society Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program.

Little did we know that a son was searching for his father. On the very day our winter warming season ended, William was picked up by his son: “I don’t have much, but he is coming to live with me.”

William’s story is a reminder that hope often finds its way in when we least expect it.

“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.” Luke 15:20
